Project Spotlight: Ceiling Fan Retrofit and more in Ocean View, Delaware

At Expert Wire, we recently had the pleasure of helping Diana and her husband, Sec, in their Ocean View home. Since moving in last fall, they wanted to make their space more comfortable and safe with a full ceiling fan installation, updated smoke detectors, and whole-home surge protection.

What We Did

Our team, led by Morgan along with Brent and Juan, tackled a big upgrade:

Retrofitted power and installed fan-rated boxes in 5 rooms that previously had no wiring for ceiling fans.

Removed and replaced non-fan rated boxes, ensuring safe and sturdy support for their new fans.

Installed 7 new ceiling fans throughout the home, including bedrooms, the study, the living room, and the upstairs common area.

Replaced 7 aging smoke detectors with modern, 10-year sealed battery units for added safety.

Installed a whole-home surge protector inside the electrical panel, protecting their electrical system and investments in appliances and electronics.

Why It Matters

Ceiling fans are one of the best upgrades for comfort and energy efficiency in Delaware homes, especially in high-use rooms like bedrooms and living spaces. By choosing remote-control fans, Diana and Sec avoided extra switch retrofits and gained easy convenience.

Just as important, smoke detectors more than 10 years old should always be replaced for maximum safety. And surge protection? It’s now required by the National Electrical Code for new homes and is essential to protect everything from your HVAC system to TVs, computers, and even EV chargers.

The Result

The project turned out beautifully—seven ceiling fans installed without damage or mess, updated smoke detectors, and peace of mind from whole-home surge protection.
