Project Spotlight: Electrical Safety Upgrades in Lewes, DE

This week our Expert Wire team visited Glenn and Virginia’s home in Lewes after they experienced a recurring issue with a living room circuit tripping multiple times throughout the week. Upon arrival, Chris and Dan performed a detailed diagnostic evaluation to pinpoint the cause.

Our inspection revealed that the circuit was in good condition overall, but we discovered minor contact between neutral and ground wires, along with moisture inside an exterior outlet box connected to the same circuit. We recommended replacing the outdoor in-use cover and gasket to help eliminate moisture intrusion.

While completing the evaluation, our team also identified opportunities to enhance the home’s safety and reliability. The Siemens 200-amp electrical panel, equipped with AFCI/GFCI breakers, did not have whole home surge protection—a crucial safeguard for protecting sensitive electronics from power surges. Additionally, the smoke detectors dated back to 2010, well past the recommended 10-year replacement mark.
