Project Spotlight – EV Charger Evaluation & Planning | Smyrna, DE

We recently had the opportunity to visit a beautiful home in Smyrna, Delaware to help a homeowner prepare for the installation of a new EV charging station.

During our visit, we met with the homeowners to discuss the safest and most efficient way to add a 48-amp car charger to their electrical system. Even though the home was relatively new, our licensed electrician performed a thorough evaluation to ensure the system could handle the additional load without any issues.

Our plan included upgrading from a standard 60-amp circuit, routed directly from the main panel to the garage. With an accessible unfinished portion of the basement and a clear drywall path, we’ll be able to run our wiring cleanly and mount the charger exactly where the homeowner wants it—next to the entrance door inside the garage.

To help the homeowner take full advantage of Delaware’s EV charger rebate program, we recommended a third-party energy audit, which we’ll coordinate as part of the installation.
